It's Been a While....

It has been a while since my last post, so I am just going to post a bunch of pictures and list a few of the projects we have done in the last couple of months.  On the outside of the house, we have finished the septic system and the new side entrance.

With the septic in place, we were able to install the granite steps at the side entrance.  First the steps,

then the columns and trim,

and then the new door.

There are too many projects to list on the interior of the house.  One major change was the restructuring of the doorway between the kitchen and the rest of the house. We had to remove the old LVL and support the doorway with an old beam, sured up with a new post.

The only thing left was to finish the framing for the rest of the wall.

Another big step was to install all three of the fireplaces, and finish the spaces in the center of the house.  Here is a picture of the main, wood burning fireplace in the center of the house.

Here is the gas stove in the office.

Here is the gas fireplace in the living room.

We had to run the chimneys through the second floor and up to the attic and then out the roof.  The chimneys run through Ami's closet, but they did not take up as much room as we thought.  We even had enough room for a linen closet.  Here is a picture.

The chimneys also went through the attic space and cut into the open third floor a bit.

One of the last jobs was to go around the house and build out all of the soffits around the plumbing and HVAC.  Here is a picture of the soffit on the first floor, hiding all of the plumbing from upstairs.

With all of the framing done, and all of the plumbing and electrical work roughed in, we were able to call for all of our inspections.  We passed all of our inspections including the final structural inspection. Next step is insulation and then drywall.

  1. Matt - it looks fantastic! Since you're so expeienced now, should I line up some construction projects for you while you are here this summer, so you'll feel at home? :) HA! Can't wait till sheetrock, I have a hard time envisioning rooms with just the framing up.
